Indic Knowledge System (IKS)
Indic Knowledge System is a collective quest of a very wide range of themes by Indians. Since the dawn of our civilization, Indians have been inquisitive and
engaged in open-minded enquiry of issues ranging from numbers, language, planets, matter to mind, health, ecology and so on. Their quest took them from theminutest particles to the grand scheme of cosmos; from consciousness to matter;from music to language; from pragmatic issues to the ultimate reality.
They proposed the holistic nature of knowledge where disciplines knew no boundaries. Such a comprehensive quest for a vast knowledge system has no parallel in the history of humankind.
About CIS & Indus University
Indus University (UGC Approved) located in Ahmedabad, is one of the leading universities in Gujarat which offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in Engineering, Management, Design, Aviation, Pharmacy, Law and Architecture.
The Centre for Indic Studies is a department of Indus University that aims to promote studies and research on various aspects of Indian Civilization. It aims to explore the core philosophies and values manifesting in the great diversity of our culture with the larger goal of restoring and promoting the Dharmic narrative of Indian Civilization. There are various modes through which this task is being accomplished.
IKS & NEP
Firstly, in accordance with the latest UGC guidelines and the new National Education Policy, the Centre is involved in the integration of Indic Knowledge System (IKS) in the various constituent institutes of Indus University by incorporating courses such as
1) Mandatory foundational course on IKS for all disciplines.
2) Indic Art and Aesthetics in the Design Institute.
3) Temple& other Vastu-based Architecture in the Architecture School.
4) Indian Models of Business & Economy in the Management Institute.
5) Indic Medicine and Ayurveda in Pharmacy Institute etc.
The endeavour is to fulfil the mandate of the National Education Policy and also to raise awareness, among our younger generation, about the great spiritual, cultural and knowledge traditions of India.
Secondly, the Centre publishes high quality research content and offers a wide range of online and offline courses on various aspects of Indian Knowledge System.
Thirdly, the Centre supports research on different themes of Indian civilization by offering publishing grants, research projects, and fellowships.
We believe that integration of IKS in mainstream academia is the best way to decolonize Indian education and re-rooting our younger generation to Indic ethos and perspective.

1. | Research Associate | Scholars, Experts and practitioners with Master’s Degree and minimum of 55 % or equivalent in the discipline of Philosophy; Art & Design; Indian History; Sanskrit, Economics are encouraged.
Applicants from other disciplines deeply rooted in Indian knowledge shall be eligible for the post. |
2. | Assistant Professor | Scholars, Experts and practitioners with PhD degree or Master’s Degree with minimum qualification of 55% or equivalent in the discipline of Philosophy; Art & Design; Indian History; Sanskrit, Economics are encouraged.
Applicants from other disciplines deeply rooted in Indian knowledge shall be eligible for the post. |
3. | Associate Professor | Scholars, Experts and practitioners holding PhD in the discipline of Philosophy; Art & Design; Indian History; Sanskrit and Economics are encouraged, along with relevant work experience in research and teaching.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Preparing and delivering lectures on various themes under the broad umbrella of Indian Knowledge System.
2. Creating and managing content for online Indic Courses which includes researching, editing the course material and preparing write ups.
3. Writing introductions, summaries, reviews on books, talks, articles, courses related to various activities of CIS.
4. Engaging in high-quality research on various topics related to IKS.
