Dear Readers,

As we begin the new month of April 2021, we would like to express our gratitude to all of you. Thanks to your continuous engagement, the viewership of articles on Indic Varta reached considerably high numbers in just a matter of weeks. We now invite you to take a glimpse at our most popular articles of last month.

In When an Indian Met the ‘Intimate Enemy’: Nirad Chandra Chaudhuri’s Life and Work – 1, Saumya Dey threw a different light on Nirad.C. Chaudhuri’s work and located him in the “Bengal renaissance” of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century.

In the fourth part of the series on Ayurveda titled “Intuition and Reason”. Ayurveda Knowledge System – 4, P.Ram Manohar explained how Ayurvedic treatment is a carefully thought out design to skilfully control the factors that work behind a disease so as to favorably influence the attempts to restore health and well-being.

In Misappropriation of North Indian Art Music, Subroto Roy told us that due to predominantly Muslim names in the world of North Indian Art Music (NIAM), we have been convinced that the music has Arabic or Islamic roots. However, as Roy explains, the Moghuls could convert the artistes, but failed to change what they sang and played as it required very high levels of understanding and cultural knowledge to do so..

Saumya Dey, our prolific contributor, published another article this month titled Of ‘Idols’ and ‘Subalterns’: Western Narratives of India and Essentializing Tropes, in which he deconstructed the meaning of narrative, a term that that we use often but understand little.

On the whole, we hope you enjoyed reading each of our articles. We are committed to bringing you the most relevant and insightful content. Stay connected and stay safe !

Warmest Regards,

Ankur Kakkar
